Sa hapot mo tabi Sis Chozene:
Sabi ni Bob Dylan, Man gave names to all the animals.
Man gave names to all the animalsIn the beginning, in the beginning.Man gave names to all the animalsIn the beginning, long time ago.He saw an animal that liked to growl,Big furry paws and he liked to howl,Great big furry back and furry hair.”Ah, think I’ll call it a bear.”Man gave names to all the animalsIn the beginning, in the beginning.Man gave names to all the animalsIn the beginning, long time ago.He saw an animal up on a hillChewing up so much grass until she was filled. He saw milk comin’ out but he didn’t know how.”Ah, think I’ll call it a cow.”Man gave names to all the animalsIn the beginning, in the beginning.Man gave names to all the animalsIn the beginning, long time ago.He saw an animal that liked to snort,Horns on his head and they weren’t too short. It looked like there wasn’t nothin’ that he couldn’t pull.”Ah, think I’ll call it a bull.”Man gave names to all the animalsIn the beginning, in the beginning.Man gave names to all the animalsIn the beginning, long time ago.He saw an animal leavin’ a muddy trail,Real dirty face and a curly tail.He wasn’t too small and he wasn’t too big.”Ah, think I’ll call it a pig.”Man gave names to all the animalsIn the beginning, in the beginning.Man gave names to all the animalsIn the beginning, long time ago.Next animal that he did meetHad wool on his back and hooves on his feet,Eating grass on a mountainside so steep.”Ah, think I’ll call it a sheep.”Man gave names to all the animalsIn the beginning, in the beginning.Man gave names to all the animalsIn the beginning, long time ago.He saw an animal as smooth as glassSlithering his way through the grass.Saw him disappear by a tree near a lake . . .
    Sa Bicol:
Ang Lada: Para pumundo ka sa kadadada, hungiton ka ki lada.
Ang Pili: Ang nikit pig lalaen, ang ilog pig-pipili.

Here is the pope’s (PJPII)take on the evolution , Joe. I hope this would help liven up the discussions in this thread .

Theory of evolution and the interpretation of Genesis

See also: Evolution and the Roman Catholic Church.
In an 22 October 1996 address to the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, Pope John Paul II reaffirmed the Church’s openness to the theory of evolution:

“In his encyclical Humani Generis (1950), my predecessor Pius XII has already affirmed that there is no conflict between evolution and the doctrine of the faith regarding man and his vocation, provided that we do not lose sight of certain fixed points….Today, more than a half-century after the appearance of that encyclical, some new findings lead us toward the recognition of evolution as more than an hypothesis. In fact it is remarkable that this theory has had progressively greater influence on the spirit of researchers, following a series of discoveries in different scholarly disciplines. The convergence in the results of these independent studies — which was neither planned nor sought — constitutes in itself a significant argument in favor of the theory.” (John Paul II, Message to the Pontifical Academy of Sciences on Evolution)

@ Whoa, very interesting basahon ang opinion mo about Scientific Theory and Evolution… In your last paragraph, napuna ko langthis2 sentences: “In fact the Catholic church is staying away from it. I believe the Catholic church now accepts evolution, I know Pope John Paul II does or at least part of it.” ang hapot ko lang saimo Noy, if there is proof na ang Catholic church is now accepting theevolution theoryand how true the late Pope John Paul II accept it or at least part of it? Opinyon ko lang: Garo kasiraan o kaya pagwasak kan sagradong paniniwala kan mga Katoliko kong mina sangayon sinda sa evolution.

Pig view ko so clips suminakit so ulo ko. It looks like so many venues of scientific theory about life creation it self, the existence of the universe or galaxies and God. My thoughts because this people are westerners and they used english language in every theories. Laenna sana ako makikinig sainda, mag hurop hurop na sana ako san sakuyang tataramon na Bikol. Igwa man ako pig aadalan nata ta an sili pigtawag na lada nata an lada maharang ano an sekreto kaini?. Natana an pili tinawag na pili siisay an nag pangaran kaini, nata ta an dahon asin (liquid na hali sa puno) mahamot nata naging mahamot. Until now i never found outan answer samanga hapot ko. I think the discussion here is becoming more and more interesting. I’m loving it. Dayu, Blues Clues and Matador raised very interesting subjects. Evolution, Intelligent Design, Scientific Theory and Einsteins God. I don’t mean to forget Rey and Duane, it’s a given these two gentlemen are always interesting. And of course Pai Caloy, Kisses(?)and the rest of the gang. But I really like to share a few ideas about the subjects I just mentioned.
(note: I’m not an expert, I barely begun my quest for scientific knowledge, I’m a novice…)Scientific Theory is often misunderstood by the general public (myself included). We always thought a theory is nothing more than a wild guess. Cannot really be trusted. We thought Scientific theory is nothing when compared to facts and laws of science. Dahil ang alam natin fact is fact, you don’t deny it. it’s a fact. Same with law, you don’t doubt it… it’s a Law. Ang bola ay bilog, that’s a fact.. ang tubig ay liquid,.. ang ating katawan ay solid,.. ang kulay ng dahon ay berde… — facts.. its dime a dozen. Pag ang bola ay hinagis mo paitaas, maghintay ka sandali iyan ay siguradong babagsak.. that’s The Law of Gravity.. no need to question it, it’s there,. so is the Law of Thermodynamics, Enthropy, Newtons Law of Moving Bodies,.. etc.etc.. but Theory!!! forget it.. this attitude is almost universal. However, in Science, Theory is the most important thing. It is the Big Guy, it is the Real Deal. It is even more important than natural laws and facts. So let’s not confuse Scientific Theory with our ordinary theory. They are 180 degrees different. Scientific Theory is not a wild guess. Scientific Theory is a body of knowledge, an explanation consisting of laws, facts, formulas and hypothesis. A proposed Theory in science is studied, tested and reviewed many thousand times over(sometimes a million times over and still going) by the scientific community the world over. It is reviewed by the National Academy of Sciences(in America), The Royal Society(of scientists in UK) and other national organizations of scientists from all over the world whose members includes the likes of Einstein, Newton, Feynman, Bohr, Darwin, Faraday,.. the Nobel price caliber scientists, the Top Guns, the Elites, the Best of the best. Not to mention free-lance scientists, scientific journals, magazines, books, publications… etc,. etc.. everybody(yes including the religious community) who is anybody who has any interest in a proposed scientific theory is given a chance to review and refute it. And when the result is unanimous without a shed of doubt then itwill considered a Scientific Theory. Scientific Theory explains What the world is, Why the world is and How the world is. Scientific Theory sometimes needs adjustment, not because it is wrong but because a new theory is more precise and encompasses a wider application.Scientific Theories cannot yet explain everything but it’s getting there. It’s almost there. Scientific Theories can now explain the formation of stars, planets, galaxies, super-novas and the origin of the universe itself. It can explain the very beginning of the universe when it was less than a millionth of a second, it even know how many atoms there are in the entire universe. As to life itself, scientific theory can now explain how life or the living nature as we know it came to be. What it doesn’t know yet is how exactly it started. But once it’s started, science has no problem explaining the rest of the story. Contrast a Scientific Theory to a Religious Claim. What do you get. Well, not even close. A Religious Claim forces an idea down our throat with utmost force, coercion and fear. A Religious Claim is an explanation of what the world is without any shed of evidence and collaboration of facts. Absolutely Zero. A Religious claim cannot be tested, contradictory, mythical, mystical, even delusional… and we are suppose to believe them.. their unquestionable truth. What Arrogance…The Big Bang Theory is a huge body of scientific work. The Big Bang cannot be doubted anymore. It is true, it happen and there is more (much much more) than enough evidence to prove it. The vast majority of Christian scientists or scientists who has religion accept it, they know it happen and it is undeniable. Anybody can get information about it very easily. You can go to any public library, to a bookstore, scientific journals or most conveniently — the internet. Google any big Bang Theory book and you can have it in an instant. Or go to http://www.youtube.com and search “Big Bang Theory”, “Origin of the Universe”, “String Theory”, “Einstein Revealed”.. etc..etc.. and you will get an extensive lectures and documentaries from top scientists, universities and scientific institutions.Darwins Theory of Evolution is an established body of scientific work. It is one of the strongest Theory in Science. Perhaps even stronger than Einsteins General Theory of Relativity. Einsteins General Theory of Relativity revolutionized everything in Science. But it is not perfect. While it works perfectly on small, medium, large and largest body of matter in the universe, Einsteins General Theory of Relativity fail at the quantum level of the universe (quantum level is a million perhaps a billion times smaller than atom). Anything goes at the quantum level. It’s unpredictable, perhaps unmeasurable… something that made Einstein famously exclaimed “God Does Not play Dice…” because Einstein do not believe in unpredictability. One of Einsteins biggest blunder or mistakes. Einstein recognize this error later and in fact he was also credited for much work in Quantum Theory. (More on Einsteins God later….) But Darwins Theory of Evolution has never been refuted. It works. It is even made stronger now that we know more about the genes, DNA, proteins and chemical molecules. Contrary to what you might think, there are many Christian scientists(perhaps majority of them) believe in evolution. They cannot refute it, they tried but they only made it stronger. Nobody really gives a damn to Intelligent Design in the scientific community except for a few. They are affiliated to the Intelligent Design movement. The Intelligent Design movement is the pseudoscience arm of Christian religion. But not all religion recognize it. In fact the Catholic church is staying away from it. I believe the Catholic church now accepts evolution, I know Pope John Paul II does or at least part of it.
hanggang dito na lang muna… please feel free to comment and critique… thank you.
