a possible memory leak. check the memory usage. if you frequently minimize firefox while using photoshop. you can set config.trim_on_minimize to true, you can just simply create a boolean variable via about:config

    Psygnosis,
It seemed like it affected my multitasking. I used to work w/ FF along with AdobePhotoshop w/c is RAM intensive. It affected overall performance not just the Firefox related to the servers etc…..

I will conduct more observation. I’ll sacrifice the RAM inconvenience for now, I must have not done some defragmentation or maintenance perhaps. I’ll post in about a month.

“Why do you think the Firefox Browser Programer envisioned the previous slow settings to be that way before we adjusted it??? In other words: Why design it to be slow, ANYBODY?

Alright I got the answer: Its not just about if others use a slow 56K modem still the constriction is the same BUT its the RAM usage!!!! My multitasking has been jeopardized. It should be adjusted with an optimized value. Try opening other programs other FF.”

firefox is not designed to be slow. pipelining is a http/1.1 extension and can “boost” your surfing experience by sending multiple packet b/w a web client and a web server. however, it can too cause sluggish performance on your surfing experience. how? if the connection is not so perfect, there are times packets are loss, so if a packet missed, several request will be resent by the client instead of one. actually for best result, the webserver _must_ also support pipelining. and there are buggy webservers out there (ehem old IIS?) that doesn’t support pipelining, so enabling pipelining on those site will not give you any boost at all, and in worst cases, it can prevent web pages to serve the page correctly. some http/1.0 proxy does not support pipelining too.

so imho maybe the reason for not enabling it by default? stability.
