The Black Hills Of Dakota….A favorite of my mother’s and mine; she always liked to sing along in accompaniment, this song takes my mindback home duringto the Fifties whenI was just a kid.

Take me back to the black hillsThe black hills of DakotaTo the beautiful Indian country That I lo-oveLost my heart in the black hillsThe black hills of DakotaWhere the pines are so high That they kiss the sky aboveAnd when I get that lonesome feelin’And I’m miles away from homeI hear the voice of the mystic mountainsCallin’ me back homeSo take me back to the black hills The black hills of Dakota To the beautiful Indian country That I loveAnd when I get that lonesome feelin’ And I’m miles away from home I hear the voice of the mystic mountainsCallin’ me back homeSo take me back to the black hills The black hills of Dakota To the beautiful Indian countryThat I loveTo the beautiful Indian countryThat I lo-oveTake me back to the Black Hills To the beautiful Indian country that I lo-o-ove

YOU TOOK MY HEART AWAY..when my whole world was gray..you gave me everything and a little bit more..and when it’s cold at night and you sleep by my side..you become the meaning of my life..

‘Cause I can’t burn a bridge that I’m still crossing
And I can’t lose the past that I’m still lost in
I can’t tell myself its over and I need a brand new start
But there’s no such thing as mind over matters of the heart’
-Mind over matters of the heart by RESTLESS HEART

I do not have a particular song stuck in my head, although I grew up with a great varity of music that used to get played over the radio way back then in the fifties and Sixties, there were half hour shows and longer, a time for Classical,to Folk, Pop, Blues, Jass, Western Cowboy songs were always a favorite of mine and I would go to sleep listening to the strands wafting through the ceiling from our loung-roombelow on the old valve PYE Radio-of those popular numbers, such as-“Cool -Clear -Water, water” and Elpasso. Back on the Pop scene however there was some very good artists arising of note who got the airplay, although not many actually knew what their faces looked like I would say, perhaps I’m wrong because I was only a youngkid in the Fifties and many famous Rock Rollers had already been about with big Hits like the ‘The-Twist’ I can recall all or most if those artists from overseas in the USA; Then there was the closer to home brand of trysts notably Tommy Steel and anothe fellow hwose name escapes me now, whos pelvicgyrations onstage were consideredtoo much for the conservativetimes when band members were always noted for been extremely well groomed, Elvis hadmade a great sensation with his antics also which look evidently rather tame when compared to the scantily clad female performersI see on tv these days.It wasSirCliff Richard who came out with the first real British hitRock-N-Roll number -Move-It, later on he just kept those hits coming, Lucky Lips, and Batchelor Boy, Constantly, Devil woman, The Young Ones and more, eventually only to be marginalised byThe Beatles emergence and other Mersey-beat groups from Liverpool, Cliff used to be the vocal front man for the Shadows also, although he done a lot of solo numbers using an ochestral instrumentalbacking to his music;Sir Cliff is still aroundwith us stilltoday, thankfully although he is no longerwhat could be termed a youngSpring Chicken as I recently read he will be turning 70 next Oct/14th and good luck and longevity to him, may he live to go past a hundred and more. Cliffs life story and his music are a rear treasure and well worth a listen to if you like Oldies on YouTube, perhaps you can find something, I foundseveral of his songs on Limewire, but don’t dob me in pl’s.Constantly The Young Ones are favorits of mine and when I was listening to his clarity of diction it was a bit too much for me and the tears streamed down my cheeks even though I would not like to fe found out to be a crybaby, albeit a silent one, I just had to be honest with you, and I have played them many times in the past week, and I am becoming bolder and can now brave listening tothe nostalgia that transplants me back in time to those long gone days of my childhood and of thoughts of my home hearth, my happy recollections of my parents and other familysiblings, Aw! those were the days my friends, we thought they would never end.!

    AVRIL LAVIGNE LYRICS

    “Keep Holding On”

    You’re not alone
    Together we stand
I’ll be by your side, you know I’ll take your hand
    When it gets cold
And it feels like the end
    There’s no place to go
You know I won’t give in
    No I won’t give in

    Keep holding on
‘Cause you know we’ll make it through, we’ll make it through
    Just stay strong
‘Cause you know I’m here for you, I’m here for you
    There’s nothing you could say
    Nothing you could do
There’s no other way when it comes to the truth
    So keep holding on
‘Cause you know we’ll make it through, we’ll make it through

    So far away
    I wish you were here
Before it’s too late, this could all disappear
    Before the doors close
And it comes to an end
With you by my side I will fight and defend
    I’ll fight and defend
    Yeah, yeah

    Keep holding on
‘Cause you know we’ll make it through, we’ll make it through
    Just stay strong
‘Cause you know I’m here for you, I’m here for you
    There’s nothing you could say
    Nothing you could do
There’s no other way when it comes to the truth
    So keep holding on
‘Cause you know we’ll make it through, we’ll make it through

Hear me when I say, when I say I believe
Nothing’s gonna change, nothing’s gonna change destiny
Whatever’s meant to be will work out perfectly
    Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

    La da da da
    La da da da
La da da da da da da da da

    Keep holding on
‘Cause you know we’ll make it through, we’ll make it through
    Just stay strong

‘Cause you know I’m here for you, I’m here for you
    There’s nothing you could say
    Nothing you could do
There’s no other way when it comes to the truth
    So keep holding on
‘Cause you know we’ll make it through, we’ll make it through

    Keep holding on
    Keep holding on

    There’s nothing you could say
    Nothing you could do
There’s no other way when it comes to the truth
    So keep holding on
‘Cause you know we’ll make it through, we’ll make it through
