AnonymousMikey my common sense is clear, may be you are among of Estrada team lawyer (kono), who blind when comes the truth. Look with all the mountainous evidences against your body. He admitted before the court direct examination that he in deed engaged in all those charge filed. So how do you judge that!!! you mean the three member of Sandigan Judge are there to protect the interest of wrong doing??? Now use your common sense.
Duane, Jinggoy and Serapio. TheCourt did not reach the verdict, due to prosecution lost focus on them that for sure. But if they the lawyer of his Dad appeal the conviction? the not guilty verdict it may render to reverse, when prosecution present more witnesses and evidence. Remember Atong Ang pleaded guilty for lesser offense and aggree to testify against Estrada.
Louie Correct ka dyan. Don’t work too hard. -

Magrukyaw kita mga tugang, we still have wise guys around! -

AnonymousThere are so many mixed reaction bias and personal. When the setting Judge heared the preponderance of evidence presentedby both party Prosecutor and Defense lawyer, together with all supporting documents, witness coroboration statements, physical and tangible evidence, those are all consider when so admissible in court without fruit of poisonous tree. People who have no knowledge about the proceeding of court, specially people no nothing but to react based on thier personalidolizes will come out and say the accused person is not guilty, reason being he/she is a good person “maki mahirap”. How in the world like other Senator’s commented that the current convicted (Estrada) wasn’t recieved fair and good judgement, again evidence speak for it self. Hello. I hope you guys in any side of parties should accept the fact that Joseph is convicted of crime he committed. Stop saying justice is blindsided. moron.

Yeah, justice prevail. But it’s unfortunate it was selective! Chavit Singson is the most corrupt of all corrupt!

Justice prevail, hope this will be a wake up call to all bad government officials both in local and national level that your days are numbered.
Ill-gotten wealth in a very short time? watch out. . . -

I think the court’s decision was not consistent and concessions were made. The case was not consistent from the very start as the supposed accessory, Chavit, became a state-witness and was not charged along with the rest. It is obvious that if Erap diverted the tobacco excise tax from Ilocos Sur, Chavit would have a part of it.
I haven’t read the decision but if Erap was convicted alone and the others were acquitted, Erap would be one for Guinness as he did everything all by himself. The law specifically state as below:
Sec. 2. Definition of the Crime of Plunder; Penalties. – Any public officer who, by himself or in connivance with members of his family, relatives by affinity or consanguinity, business associates, subordinates or other persons, amasses, accumulates or acquires ill-gotten wealth through a combination or series of overt criminal acts as described in Section 1 (d) hereof in the aggregate amount or total value of at least Fifty million pesos (P50,000,000.00) shall be guilty of the crime of plunder and shall be punished by reclusion perpetua to death. Any person who participated with the said public officer in the commission of an offense contributing to the crime of plunder shall likewise be punished for such offense. In the imposition of penalties, the degree of participation and the attendance of mitigating and extenuating circumstances, as provided by the Revised Penal Code, shall be considered by the court. The court shall declare any and all ill-gotten wealth and their interests and other incomes and assets including the properties and shares of stocks derived from the deposit or investment thereof forfeited in favor of the State.
Erap, to me, is already a spent force and as a principled tough guy as he say he is, hemay have taken the total responsibility and accountability out of the case to save the other personalities involved. Whether he is guilty or not guilty, after six years, it would not make any difference to the lives of the Filipinos. His acquittal, however, wouldshake the powers-that-be in Malacanang on their pedestals.
The Philippineprosecution and justice system is at stake here. If they were able to charge and convict Erap, why are they not lifting a finger to theaccusations against Jose Pidal, Nani Perez, Joc-Joc Bolante, Garci and the latest one against Abalos on theZTE deal? After 21 years, we are also still awaiting recovery of the Marcos ill-gotten wealth. Selective justice system?
The political maturity and morality of the Filipinos is at stake here. If we applaud and celebrate Erap’s conviction anddeafly ignore the valid accusations against the people in the present administration, what have we gained? -

This is more a political verdict. Acquitting Erap will put our country in political jeopardy. If ever Erap was acquitted, the so called constitutional experts will be having a hard time coming up with the resolution of his stolen presidency. There is also political color with the decision of Sandigan Bayan in favor of Jingoy Estrada and lawyer Edward Serapio. Both should be found guilty along with Erap otherwise all of them should walk free!
Since theprosecution has presented the same set of evidences and witnesses for both accused maintaining that all of the illegal transactions were made in their presence and that both of them took part in the plunder activities…to say that Jinggoy Estrsada’s and Lawyer Edware Serapio guilt were not established beyond reasonable doubt while Erap’s guilt is totally inconsistent. -
