SweetRen’s requested song, One Friend, reminded me of the very best of my friends in Guinobatan… He was seven and I, eight years old, when their family left our place and went to Manila. Few weeks after their relocation I received a letter from him with a five peso bill enclosed. Tears were flowing heavily down my face as I recalled the days we spent swimming and fishing down by the rivers, jumping and tumbling backwards from top of the tables, jumping off moving tricycles, and everything we cared to discuss and do together as little children… He is my “One Friend”, “Onoy” Gonzales… 😀
