    Hi Claro!
What can I say? You have just summarized the benefits we gained thru this website! Hurray! to Xandei!
Sometimes I believe na kan magwaras and Diyos kan grasya para sa abilidad for survival, medyo napadakul yata ang tapok sa Pilipinas lalo sa parte kan Bicol! Anyway welcome kabayan!, [not only from being both from Bicol but for being “long-staying” in Middle East. I also have been in Middle East for 15 years, and I never keep it a secret that I am grateful to this part of the world for giving us the chance to share what they have for the betterment of our our family which our goverment could not provide. Nobody can deny how much the Middle East help thousands, perhaps millions of households in the Philippines.
I also agree with you, this place is probably the most peaceful place I have been. Contrary to the general impression now, about Middle East, this place is still safer than Manila. Iraq is an isolated place, but as far as I remember it it was once a peaceful country, but screwed up by politics and greedfor the black gold, OIL! And it is a pity the country is going to the canal and what a waste of lives everyday!

tersera: with the advent of technology and its affordable costs these days, ining site na ini (am sure all will agree) keep us closer to home, making us realize kan mga bagay bagay na kaidto dae ta na hihiling importante palan sa kabo-o-han kan sarong pagka bicolnon (dont want to use the word appreciate) like…..gulay na laing (taro leaves), preskong sira na tabios hale sa buhi, tilapiang naglolukso lukso pa pakatapos hali-on duman sa bato lake, lagting na pili ( inner husks of the pili nut coverings ) na pig sawsaw sa ginata-ang dina-elan hali sa daet. bio na pati akong naga ralaway.
yaon ako digdi sa saudi arabia for the past 25 years. inda kung pa-no ko na survive ang strange culture ka ining country na nag ta-o saco kan mga kaipuhan kan sakuyang mga mahal ko sa buhay. over-all peaceful ang situation digdi, in fact, mas takot akong mag lakaw lakaw sa streets of manila pag nag didiklom na. seguro, i got so immersed in its rich history that has kept me this long, ekking out a living, devoid of the political bickerings that we do have back home. ta kung halangkaw sana ang sueldo kan mga government employees, dae na kunta ako nag hali duman sa civil service commission.
eventually……. personal opinion ko lang….. only the brave ones have the courage to leave their own shores….. na ining courage is deeply rooted among us bicolanos.
pero, aram ko na todok sa boot ta na one way or another, ma uli ta mauli kita sa satuyang gini-kanan…going home may not be physical, but can be expressed in many varied forms… the likes of bievenido tan’s the scent of an apple, or carlos bolosan’s the laughter of my father.
marhay na aldaw sa satuya gabos. palan, i have forwarded this site to my bicol friends all over the world.
